Statement on Relocation and Reemployment of Workers at Mitsubishi Motors Okazaki Plant

July 21, 2004  — In line with our revised business revitalization plan announced on June 16, we have decided to cease vehicle production at our Okazaki plant by the end of 2005. We are currently studying how to best relocate the approximately 1,600 workers to other parts of the company.

We are looking into reemployment opportunities with other local businesses for workers who will find it hard to relocate or wish to look for new employment.

We have also decided to offer early retirement packages to 200 older workers.

As part of our plans to introduce workers to local businesses, we entered into talks with Toyota Motor Corporation on July 13 and today reached an agreement in which Toyota will take on some 400 workers from the plant.
