— The Business Ethics Committee, an advisory body for the Mitsubishi Motors board of directors, held its ninth meeting Tuesday, December 14.
At the ninth meeting, a visit was made to the Mitsubishi Fuso factory in Kawasaki. This meeting was held in order to examine how Fuso, who has had similar problems as Mitsubishi Motors, is operating and to exchange opinions with those in charge.
After the factory visit, a talk was held with Mitsubishi Fuso Chairman Hori and other related persons. At this time, an explanation of the present status of the problem of the past repair directives and defect information was heard.
Impressions of the visit to Mitsubishi Fuso were as follows:
- The Mitsubishi Fuso factory is working in an orderly fashion, and we could feel that morale was being maintained.
- With regard to the past repair directives and defect information, the explanation was given that the top leadership is promoting the elimination of past serious defects and the post market measures for recalls in order to compensate for the past. We want Mitsubishi Motors as well to work on further improving the business processes related to recalls.
- Even though Mitsubishi Fuso has close relations with its users, we have learned that critical opinion is increasing. Mitsubishi Motors, in its handling of goods for consumers, must operate is business with social responsibility.
Moreover, we appreciate Mitsubishi Fuso's polite reception of our visit and sincerely thank them for this courtesy.
The ninth meeting of the business ethics committee has been scheduled to be held on December 21.
