Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announced today a major
reshuffle of its top management following a special Board of Directors
Meeting after today's Annual Shareholder Meeting.
Effective immediately, former President and CEO Takashi Sonobe becomes
Chairman and Rolf Eckrodt, so far serving as Executive Vice President
and COO Car Operations, becomes President and CEO responsible for the
entire operations of the company.
Regarding his election as President and CEO, Rolf Eckrodt said, "I
am fully prepared to accept this responsibility. I will fight for the
success and future of the entire company with all my strength and experience
gained in the automobile industry over 36 years."
Eckrodt stressed, "the first year of the Mitsubishi Motors Turnaround
has been more successful than expected. We will continue this path and
even accelerate our efforts of restructuring and reform to further increase
profits and to return to sustainable growth."
"It is not a question of Japanese or German management style but
rather of being successful or not," he further added. "Building
on the great resources available at Mitsubishi Motors, we will further
introduce international management methods to recreate a strong Japanese
company and partner within our global alliance with DaimlerChrysler."
