| Mitsubishi Motors Announces August Production, Sales and Export Results |

Tokyo, September 25, 2003
-Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) today announced
its production, sales and export results for August 2003.
Total worldwide production in August declined 14.9 percent to 114,488 units.
Of this, production in Japan edged down 0.5 percent to 53,966 units, marking
the second consecutive monthly decline. Overseas production, meanwhile, was
off 24.7 percent compared to August last year, coming in at 60,522 units for
the fourth straight monthly decline. By region, Asia excluding Japan declined
12.8 percent to 41,484 units. North American production dropped 46.4 percent
to 10,401 units, while Europe declined 50.9 percent to 3,673 units.
Domestic sales including minicars slipped 1.8 percent on August last year to
18,524 units. This marks the first drop in four months. MMC's share of the domestic
market for the month remained unchanged from last August at 5.2 percent.
Exports from Japan totaled 27,391 units for the month, down 15.6 percent compared
to the same period last year. By region, exports to Asia came in at 4,230 units,
North America 5,128 units, and Europe 7,190 units. As a result of the spin-off
of MMC's truck and bus operations in January 2003, regional year-on-year comparisons
are not available due to a change in the system used to tally exports.
