New-generation minicars' standard eK-WAGON orders top 100,000

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announces that orders for the new eK-WAGON minicar counted 100,748 units as of Saturday, May 18, 7 months after it went on sale in showrooms around Japan on October 11, 2001, surpassing the 100,000 mark. Furthermore, with the "Black Interior Edition" and the welfare edition additionally launched in May 8, and the turbo equipped eK-WAGON ready to be launched in fall, Mitsubishi Motors will further broaden its vehicle lineup to satisfy full needs of our customers and create a strong positioning of a long-lasting-hit car.

eK-WAGON product features:

Developed and built around a "Just Right Value Wagon" concept, eK-WAGON features packaging that facilitates passenger entry and egress while permitting access to the tower parking common in Japan, together with a clean and standard design. Interior features include a new-look center instrument panel and generous small-item stowage space. eK-WAGON offers class-topping crashworthiness together with fun-to-drive handling, performance and maneuverability. This new concept minicar is also very wallet-friendly, with prices starting at 910,000 yen.
