2 November 1998, Tokyo. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announces that
on 1 November 1998 it introduced a revised set of corporate principles
for member companies of the Mitsubishi Motors group both in and outside
of Japan. "Mitsubishi Motors' Corporate Principles" (Japan) and the
English-language version "The Spirit of Global Mitsubishi Motors Way"
(worldwide) reflect the spirit of the recently adopted "Innovation in
Motion" corporate policy and replace the "Corporate Principles" introduced
in June 1980*1
Core principles in new code of conduct

Mitsubishi Motors' Corporate Principles (Japan)
|
The Spirit of Global Mitsubishi Motors Way (Worldwide)
|
- To realize Innovation in Motion, always for the benefit of
the customer
- To be constantly innovative, from a truly global perspective
- To conduct oneself with integrity, as a member of a company
that is above-board and ethical in its dealings
|
- Customer satisfaction
- Speedy and simple
- Innovative and creative
- Fair and open
|
The revised corporate principles aim to provide all concerned with
appropriate guidelines in their efforts to:
- Realize Innovation in Motion. This goal will be achieved by improving
customer satisfaction and building up long-running relationships with
customers through on-going innovation in the company's activities
and an on-going questioning and appraisal of what constitutes excellence
from the viewpoint of what value means to the customer. This will
enable the company to provide in a timely manner the kind of products
and service that are readily acceptable to the customer.
- Make meaningful contributions to environmental conservation and
to development of the world community. These contributions are to
be made from a global perspective.
- Become a company with a presence. In other words to become, from
a corporate ethics viewpoint, a company that is readily accepted by
the community it operates in for the aboveboard and ethical manner
in which it conducts itself. Giving precedence to human and social
qualities, the company must conduct itself with integrity and remain
true to its principles, as epitomized in "Shoji komei"*2,
the words of Iwasaki Koyata - 4th president of the old Mitsubishi
organization.
- "The Spirit of Global Mitsubishi Motors Way" is a simplified version
of the new code of conduct that uses keywords to capture the essence
of the concepts in the Japanese version and is written in English
for group companies outside Japan. It takes into consideration, differences
in culture, climate and ways of thinking.
-------------------------------------------
*1 : To create products which distinguish themselves
by excellent quality and innovative engineering. To put our customers'
viewpoint first both in thought and action. To unite all our physical

society at large.
