6 November 1998, Tokyo - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation today announced
its non-consolidated results for the half year ended 30 September 1998.
Sales were 1,106,280 million yen, a decrease of 16.2% on 1,319,497 million
yen for the same period in fiscal 1997. Ordinary loss for the period
was 18,299 million yen, and net loss was 28,637 million yen.
Domestic sales of cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses
for the period were 254,505 units, compared with 315,320 units for the
same period in fiscal 1997. Exports of vehicles were 291,060 units,
compared with 313,386 units. Domestic market sales and export shipments
totaled 545,565 units, compared with 628,706 units for the same period
in fiscal 1997.
For the 1998 fiscal year (1 April 1998 - 31 March 1999), Mitsubishi
Motors forecasts an ordinary profit of 5 billion yen and net loss of
9 billion yen on sales of 2,320 billion yen.
