Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announces the opening, in conjunction with
the 32nd Tokyo Motor Show, of the Mitsubishi Motors International Design
Competition '98, starting Saturday, October 25, 1997. Organized by the
Mitsubishi Motors Tama Design Center (located in Tokyo's Tama ward), the
competition is being held in part as a contribution to the Tama community's
cultural activities. Capitalizing on the Internet's global network, the
competition will link to diverse cultures and motorization environments
via its web site, and call for entries from around the world until February
27,1998.
As a competition open to the general public, this is
the first of its kind to be organized by Mitsubishi Motors. With aims
to gather future design ideas and gain insight into user expectations
for new products, the competition places emphasis on Mitsubishi Motors'
corporate slogan "Creating Together".
Application Guidelines
Theme
"A Car with Speed, Off-Road, Space." Designs must have
development potential within a 4 to 5 year period, by the year 2002.
Eligibility
The competition is open to individuals of all ages
and nationalities,both amateurs and professionals who can execute graphic
works.
Evaluation Criteria
Innovative ideas relating to such aspects as the exterior,
interior,fuel and usage are anticipated, but the contestant's skill
in graphic rendering and extent of car-related knowledge are not part
of the evaluation criteria. What is important is the idea's originality
and its development potential.
How to Enter
Submit graphics (all types: hand drawings, blueprints,
photographs, computer graphics etc.) and description, mounted on a maximum
of three A2 format presentation boards. Entries should be mailed or
delivered to the competition division office. The web site is for announcement
purposes only; entries submitted via Internet or any other form of electronic
transmission will be disqualified.
Deadline
Jury, Announcement of Results
The jury will consist of Mitsubishi Motors designers
and an outside advisor. Prize works will be displayed on the competition
web site at the end of March.
