Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announced today its appointment of Mr Stefan
Jacoby, a senior executive at Volkswagen AG, to the post of president
& CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe B.V., effective 1 October 2001.
MMC is currently implementing a Turnaround Plan throughout the MMC group.
Under the Plan, MMC is aiming to return its European operations to break
even in the 2003 fiscal year by: (1) Reducing costs through organizational
and other structural reforms; (2) Introducing long-term products strategies
to strengthen sales, and; (3) Strengthening local production activities
with the introduction of the Z-Car model.
Highly knowledgeable about the auto industry in general and with extensive
experience in working in Europe, the United States and Japan , Mr Jacoby
is expected to make a major contribution to the success of MMC's operations
in Europe.
