Tokyo, June 14, 2001: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announces that it will hold "the 4th Mitsubishi Motors International Design Competition", starting on Monday June 18.

  • As a new challenge, we keep this competition more open by conducting the Popularity Poll and screening on the web.
  • As a chairman of the Screening Committee for this competition, we have elected Mr. Olivier Boulay who has been appointed as a chief of the Design Division since last April.
  • Mr. Olivier Boulay states, "We expect to receive many entries filled with new ideas from all over the world. Please participate aggressively regardless of professional or amateur."

This 4th Design Competition will be held as one of the Informational Culture Activities promoted by Mitsubishi Motors' Tama Design Center (Tama, Tokyo).
The total number of entries of the past 3 competitions exceeds 600 from 50 different countries in the world.

We have used the Internet to announce and publicize the prize entries for past competitions, and this time, we dare to promote the Popularity Poll and the screening on the web site by all people who access our web site. We hope it will lead more expanded competition.

Our theme this time is "Next Generation Mitsubishi Cross Country Vehicles". We expect to receive as many entries as possible such as the one which proposes the value and the genre of the new cross country vehicles, which takes Ecology in consideration, and which bubbles with the ideas to enjoy our earth.

Mitsubishi Motors' Tama Design Center was established in 1996 as a base of futuristic design research and new model development for Motor Show. It serves as communication interface between ordinary people and designs developers.
