Mitsubishi Motors to Contribute to Astro Boy Fund

Tokyo, May 14, 2003 -Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) today announced it will donate 3,000 yen to the Astro Boy Fund for each order it receives for its new Grandis minivan at the car's launch event on May 17 and 18.

The 3,000 yen amount was chosen to symbolize MMC's commitment to receiving 3,000 orders by May 18. If this ambitious target is reached, the total contribution by MMC will be 9 million yen or more.

Astro Boy will attend the event on May 18 to receive the donation on behalf of the Fund, set up by Tezuka Productions Co. Ltd, the creators of Astro Boy. The Fund will be officially established on May 18 with the donation from MMC.

The Astro Boy Fund's agenda calls for supporting the health and well-being of children around the world and providing them with the means to create their own future. All donations will be handed over to UNICEF.

MMC chose the Fund because of its commitment to helping children, which makes it a perfect match for the customers of the Grandis: young families. "By supporting UNICEF, the Astro Boy Fund will make a direct contribution to bettering the lives of children and families all over the world," said MMC President and CEO Rolf Eckrodt.

MMC will also place donation boxes in showrooms nationwide for the public to make contributions to the Astro Boy Fund.
