6 May 1999, Tokyo: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation launched its web site
in October 1995, providing the latest news and information about the
company to those with Internet access. For improved customer service,
the company in April launched the new Showroom Page that provides information
for those interested in purchasing a Mitsubishi Motors' automobile.
This service is to be augmented on 10 May by an Online Counter Page
that will enable Internet users to access and request information, estimates
and other purchase-related information online.
The "Showroom" home page builds on the experience and track record of the company's successful Used Vehicle home page that has been running since February 1998. It enables those Internet users to search for information required when considering the purchase of a Mitsubishi Motors model and including: Model (31 passenger models), price estimates, credit purchase price simulations, optional trim and equipment available for each model (some 3,000 items in all), the location of dealer showrooms (1,200 passenger car outlets throughout Japan), and special events and campaigns.
The new Online Counter Page will provide additional convenient features, enabling a prospective customer to, among other things: (1) Have catalogues sent to him by mail; (2) Find out where he can see a particular model; (3) Book a test drive; (4) Request a detailed estimate, and; (5) Request a visit by a sales person.
With details of the type of service the prospective customer wishes being collated into a list and forwarded to his designated sales company within 24 hours of receipt, the new system is expected to lead to increased sales. The sales companies have already formed Internet Sales Promotion teams, and are ready to respond promptly to customer needs and requests. (See figure) The Online Counter Page will enable a prospective customer to access, at any time of the day or night, the information he needs to purchase a Mitsubishi Motors automobile and then, after careful consideration, to communicate his wishes to the sales company directly over the Internet. It will also help Mitsubishi Motors and its sales companies to improve communications and relations with customers and prospective customers.
