Mitsubishi Motors to spin-off
Education and in-house training departments

February 29, 2000

29 February 2000, Tokyo: Mitsubishi Motors announces that, effective 1 April 2000, it is to transfer the functions and personnel of the departments currently responsible for personnel education and in-house training to JIN Co. Ltd., a company to be newly formed for the purpose on 1 March.

The company has been implementing measures to reform the organizational structure and as a part of such plan, the company last year spun off the business information systems and used car distribution departments. Under this outsourcing program, the education and in-house training department becomes the third to be spun off into a separate entity.

The company has decided to spin off the departments currently responsible for personnel education and in-house training into a separate company that will concentrate solely on the highly specialized areas of employee education and training. The company expects that the establishment of a specialist company supporting the automotive business from the aspect of human resource development will lead to a qualitative improvement in the quality of personnel training.

The move will enable Mitsubishi Motors to look at new forms of education and training that will be applicable to its sales companies, affiliated companies, suppliers and other member companies of the Mitsubishi Motors group. This, in turn, will enable Mitsubishi Motors to elevate the human resource development strategy for the group to higher and more effective levels. The company will also consider the provision of such services to companies outside the group.

Human resource development will form the principle business for the new company. At the same time, and in accordance with Mitsubishi Motors basic personnel policy, the new company will be responsible for the drawing up and finalizing of educational policy, and for the planning, running and execution of specific training programs, for Mitsubishi Motors and group companies. In its function as the educational arm of the Mitsubishi Motors group, the new company will also actively put forward proposals for human resource development measures that will boost the fighting strength of the group as a whole.

To actively grow its business both within and outside the Mitsubishi Motors group, the new company will also work to extend the scope of its activities into new business areas, including: personnel recruitment and placement, training in preparation for change in job, and consulting in connection with translation and interpreting of foreign languages.
