New Lancer Cedia sales top 4,500 in first month
Way over 3,000 target!

Tokyo, 14 June 2000: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announces that the new Lancer Cedia has made a highly encouraging debut, with orders topping 4,500 units on 11 June - one month after it went on sale in showrooms around Japan on 9 May - and substantially exceeding the 3,000 unit monthly target the company was aiming for.

A New-generation Compact Sedan that meets the requirements and needs of the new age, the LANCER CEDIA is principally distinguished by the following features:

  • New-generation Packaging melds together the advantages of compact dimensions with Mitsubishi's Big Cabin to provide spacious interior accommodation for four adults in an easy-to-handle body size.
  • All models in the series are driven by MMC's advanced GDI+CVT powertrain, in which integrated management of the eco-friendly GDI engine and a new continuously variable transmission returns ultra-low fuel consumption while delivering silky-smooth and sporty performance.
  • Large aerodynamic headlamps, using free-curvature reflectors, and a totally new-taste dashboard design are just two elements that impart on the exterior and interior styling a dynamic presence and stylish quality befitting this new-generation sedan.
  • Standard on all models, Mitsubishi's RISE(*1) advanced safety body and SRS airbags for driver and front passenger realize high levels of safety. All models in the CEDIA series comply with 2010 Fuel Consumption Standards and Japanese 2000 Emission Regulations.

100,000 test drive campaign up to 31 July

MMC is currently running a test drive campaign, with a target of attracting 100,000 potential customers by the end of July. A draw will be held for those who have test driven the Lancer Cedia and answered a questionnaire. Prizes include travel coupon worth 100,000Yen for 100 people, and specialty produce from various regions of Japan for 1,900 people.
