| We apologize sincerely for all the trouble and concern Mitsubishi Motors
has caused our customers and other related parties, due to the series of
problems brought to light by the Ministry of Transport spot inspection.
On Aug. 22, the company submitted to the Japanese Ministry of Transport, an additional notification of recall and improvement measures which
include 8 recalls, 1 improvement campaign and 2 service campaigns. This additional recall submitted on Aug. 22 is effective to Mitsubishi Motors
products sold in Japan. On the same date, company has also submitted to the Transport Ministry, a report on the findings of the internal
investigation conducted by the company into the affair. Unfortunately, the report indicates that due to the lack of respect for rules and
regulations on the part of company officers and employees, the supervision and presentation of information on market quality, as well as the
handling of recall notification has, been inappropriate and inconsistent with the relevant rules and regulations.
It goes without saying that all company officers and everyone else involved, those persons no longer with the company included, sincerely take to
heart the serious nature of the findings of the report. The company will solemnly accept to undertake to do whatever the Ministry of Transport
decides on the basis of our report.
The company has established on Aug. 10, a Quality Issue Action Committee
to tackle the issues we face and including: compliance in all company
operations; our quality supervisory systems; reshuffling of personnel
in the departments concerned; strengthening of the corporate organization;
and above all else, improvements in the quality levels of our products.
