Mitsubishi Motors Launches Year 2003 Model of Pajero in China

-Two New SUV Models and Expanded Customer Service Offering Mark Renewed Commitment to Market-

Shanghai/Tokyo, Japan, December 19, 2002 -Mitsubishi Motors Corporation today announced the introduction of the Year 2003 model of its signature SUV models, Pajero and Pajero Sport to the China market. The unveiling of the two updated and newly-designed import models at a launch ceremony in Shanghai signifies a renewed commitment by the company to the burgeoning China automobile market.

Coming on the heels of recent announcements with DaimlerChrysler to jointly produce Pajero Sport and Outlander models with Beijing Jeep Corporation, the introduction of Pajero new models is the latest step by Mitsubishi Motors in a plan to expand its business in China.

The two new models offer Chinese SUV enthusiasts a combination of distinctive styling and dominating all-terrain performance at an extraordinary value.

Striking a balance between rugged off-road performance and luxury styling, the new Pajero is powered by a 3.0-liter 24-valve V6 SOHC fuel injected engine that offers drivers a unique balance of power, performance and efficiency.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is an all-terrain sport utility vehicle (SUV) that places as much emphasis on "Sport" as it does on "Utility", contributed by the combination of distinctive styling and a powerful 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine.

As part of the long-term alliance business strategy with BJC, Mitsubishi Motors will be launching a locally produced Pajero Sport in March 2003. A limited number of imported Pajero Sport models will be available to buyers prior to the introduction of the locally produced models with Beijing Jeep Corporation.

Focus on Quality and Customer Satisfaction

To coincide with the new model launches, Mitsubishi Motors has also announced an increased commitment to customer service in China. Elements of the program include quality inspections, new and improved customer warranties, and after sales service. Before any vehicle is delivered to a customer, it passes through rigorous quality control inspections at the Port of Entry and a pre-delivery inspection performed at the local dealership.

Customer warranties for all new Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in China have been extended from 12 months or 20,000km to 24 months or 50,000km whichever comes first. Warranty service is available at any of the 101 authorized Mitsubishi Motors service stations throughout China. Upon purchase, customers are also eligible for a free 1,000km inspection at the dealership which includes free oil change and filter replacement. Moreover, Mitsubishi Motors offers a special campaign as return to all of its customers at an annual basis. In addition to customer service, Mitsubishi Motors has established Technical Service Centers to conduct periodic training on the latest technology and information for dealers and service providers.

Both imported Pajero and Pajero Sport will be sold through Mitsubishi Motors' 55 authorized dealers.
