- Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) today announced that in its role as supporting sponsor of the 2004 Osaka International Ladies Marathon it will provide a Mitsubishi FCV1 and 13 other vehicles to the organizers of the January 25 event.
The clean-energy Mitsubishi FCV will shadow the leading competitors as the official race promotion car while the other Mitsubishi cars will assist organizers in the running of the race.
The Mitsubishi FCV received vehicle type approval on October 31, 2003, and began an extensive on-road test program earlier this month. As it shadows the leaders in the 2004 Osaka International Ladies Marathon, the Mitsubishi FCV will demonstrate the practical applicability of fuel cell technology while being kinder to competitors, spectators and the local environment than a conventionally powered car.
MMC will shortly launch a new Vehicle Home Page corner on its web site that will provide real-time details of the Mitsubishi FCV's location and operational status both in the Osaka Marathon and throughout the on-road test program. The company plans to develop the Vehicle Home Page further to gather data on fuel cell vehicle operation under everyday traffic conditions and to provide on-line vehicle diagnostics and other services.
