Tokyo, 16 October 2000: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation will display a total of 20 show specials and production commercial vehicles at the 34th Tokyo Motor Show to be held at the Nippon Convention Center (a permanent international exhibition ground - known as "Makuhari Messe) from 31 October through 4 November (press and special guest day on Oct.31 Tue.). The MMC stands will also feature video and panel presentations introducing the latest environment-, efficiency- and safety-enhancing technologies and demonstrating the company's proactive development stance in seeking to realize new forms of transportation for the 21st century.

MMC Tokyo Motor Show theme: "Transporting your Dream into Success"

MMC's established corporate goal is to earn enduring customer satisfaction and loyalty through the pursuit of excellence both in product and after-sales service. At the Tokyo Motor Show, MMC adopts a "Transporting your Dream into Success" theme in the proposals it presents for the ideal transporter for the 21st century. Under the "Heart Beat Motors" corporate banner, the company's commercial vehicle exhibits focus on the successful marriage between environmental acceptability and enhanced efficiency.
The MMC stands are arranged around a central area featuring detailed and easy-to-understand video presentations of the latest low-emission and preventative safe technologies. These technologies are also introduced and described in more detail on the presentation stage at given times throughout the day.
On the vehicle display stands, MMC exhibits include the Aero No-step HEV large public service bus driven by a hybrid electric propulsion system that realizes outstanding "Environmental Responsibility"; and as for "Economic Efficiency", the Super Great heavy truck that features a cargo bed over 10 meters long thanks for "Economic Efficiency" to a new short-cab design.
Customers wishing to talk business or inquire about technical aspects are catered for at MMC Consulting Corners, where they are assured a warm welcome. And outside the pavilion, visitors and prospective customers are invited to climb aboard MMC production models on a specially prepared test course operated jointly by exhibiting companies. MMC will be providing one heavy and one medium truck for test drive and ride purposes.

< Super Great: Large Class Trucks >

• Short Cab & All-wheel Air Suspension Truck
  This is a sample exhibition model of the short cab of an in-line 6-cylinder turbo engine with low fuel consumption. It is a result of MMC's development of the V6 inter-cooler turbo charged engine vehicle, with a totally new cab style, adding the variety to the large class trucks of the short cab that have called for the attention of the markets lately. This model will further lead the market of the economical transporters, adding the advantages of the excellent low fuel consumption, spacious cargo room of the 10-meter body with the bed-less characteristics, and employment of the all-wheel air suspension system.

• Ultra-low Fuel Consumption Semi-tractor Specially
  Designed for the High-speed Roads This is the ultimate model with the ultra-low fuel consumption on the high-speed roads. It has been introduced with the first-in-the-market high-pressure combustion engine for the truck engines, low-fuel consumption driveline, and the newly developed OD 9speed INOMAT: It is absolutely designed to achieve the superb economical advantages in high-speed truck transportation.
• Short Cab Dump Truck
  This model is installed with the telescopic cylinder vessel of the light reinforced body on the short cab truck with the V8 naturally aspirated engine. It performs the high efficiency and the dump capability with the vehicle stability, as well as the increased loading space and load capacity due to eliminating the bed.

• All-wheel Air-suspension INOMAT Vehicle
  This model is equipped with the all-wheel air-suspension to employ the air-suspension system with both front and rear suspensions, as well as with the INOMAT, the MMC's most advanced fuzzy controlled automatic transmission to realize the easy drive and the fuel-saving transportation. • Refrigerator Truck with Air Curtain
  The new star of the medium class short cab trucks, Fighter NX. This model will be displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show as the refrigerator truck with the clean engine fully compliant with the low pollution vehicle regulation enforced by the metropolitan cities of Japan. In addition to employment of the idling stop & start system that enhances the ecology-conscious properties, this model has introduced the air curtain and the under-floor container power gate in the freezer van, to fulfill the further functionality.
• All-wheel Air-suspension INOMAT Vehicle
  This new model, Fighter, is equipped with the all-wheel air-suspension to employ the air-suspension system with both front and rear suspensions. It will realize the tremendously minimal vibration of cargo area and excellent seating atmosphere surpassing the conventional rear-wheel air-suspension trucks. This model is also installed with the INOMAT, the MMC's most advanced fuzzy controlled mechanical automatic transmission to realize the easy drive and the fuel-saving transportation. It will pursue the excellent transporting quality and further economical features.
• Light Top Wing Body Truck
  Fighter NX is the light weighted body specifications loaded with the 4-cylinder turbo engine. Installed with the light-top wing body that signifies the merits of the light weighted chassis, it enhances further transport efficiency with the maximum loading capacity of this 4-ton class truck.

• Aerial Platform Truck of HEV Low-noise
  Canter HEV Aerial Platform Truck has been developed and created from the idea of "a working truck with friendliness to the neighboring areas surrounding the work site". The HEV system operates the power generation with the engine and drives with the motor, enabling the short-distance drive with the power-generating engine stopped in the housing areas, as well as reducing the exhaust gas. It also realizes the work at site with the power of the batteries, which reduces tremendously the work noise.

• Electric Refrigerator Truck of Rear-wheel Air-suspension
  Based upon the Canter's rear-wheel air-suspension truck, which realizes the excellent transport quality, this refrigerator truck employs the new refrigerator machine corresponding with the idling stop & start system. With operation of the refrigerator driving by the power generator, it enables the excellent temperature control in the vessel at times when the engine is stopped.

• Petrol-engine Truck
  The petrol-engine vehicles are now attracting large attention because of the excellent quietness, low vibration and clean exhaust gas. Low NOx content, exhaust gas without black smoke and low noise, all characteristic to the petrol-engines, will take the drive in the housing areas and early-in-the-morning or late-at-night transportation well into consideration.

• Aero No-step HEV
  MMC will sample display this Aero No-step HEV, which has been newly developed and created as a city bus of the 21st Century that is both passenger-friendly and eco-friendly with high practical use. Along with evolution of the pleasant "no step" function, this model has employed the HEV, hybrid electric vehicle, generating with the engine and driving with the motor. This has truly been put such advanced properties into shape, as being passenger-friendly and environment-friendly.

• Aero Queen I
  A super high decker bus, Aero Queen I, is well considered with the aged passengers, with a tilted lift and a barrier-free compliant toilet. It is installed with the new generation diesel engine fully compliant with the exhaust gas regulation of 1999 in Japan, as well as the super air-suspension that realizes the excellent seating and passenger control. Pleasant interior, fulfilled safety performance, all in all is meant to pursue the ideal of the sightseeing buses with large seating capacity.

• Aero No-step Midi
  Aero Midi has been newly developed and created as the no-step bus with the length of 9 meters, corresponding with size reduction requirements for the urban community bus and line bus. By introducing the new vehicle layout, it has realized the ultra low floor and the wide & flat floor surface. Further have been designed for the excellent passenger control, seating comfort, and other passenger-friendly measures such as the employment of the wheel chair area and slope panel for the wheel chair access.

• Long-body Route Bus
  MMC will display this liner-specifications long body bus corresponding with the barrier-free requirements. Further with easy-access characteristics between the driver's seat and passenger door, it enhances the safety confirmation for the passengers as well as toll payment confirmation. This model further realizes the easy access of the wheel-chaired passengers by employing a rear lift containable under the floor.

• Pajero
  In addition to achievements of the most critical environmental criteria with MMC's GDI V6 3.5 liter engine, this model has tremendously enhanced the driving performance at times of both the off- and on-roads, due to employment of the ladder frame built-in monocoque body and 4-wheel independent suspension system.

• Dion Hearty Run, moving passenger seat specification car
  Easier and freer moving, Mitsubishi Hearty Run series makes such dream closer to us with its Dion, the car enjoyed by all family members. The special seat slides off the vehicle dynamically, while descending its seating level, which alleviates the hard work of the family member feeling difficulty in getting on/off the car or using a wheel chair.

• Toppo BJ Hearty Run, wheel chair specification car, 4WD
  Kneel-down system adopted, when opening the back door, the vehicle level comes down, which enables to get on/off the car while riding on a wheel chair. Adopting 4WD, the utility area becomes wider and wider.

• Delica Refrigerator Truck
  A special purpose vehicle series has made a company with the Delica Truck series of the new age, fulfilling the users' business. At this Show, MMC will display a Refrigerator Truck for convenient use of distribution, to select among these special purpose vehicle series. There is a special Delica for you to work specially. The Delica trucks offer more variety to the business.

• Minicab Van
  Minicab Van allows the abundant loading of cargo as well as the deliberate uses easily. It will support the everyday work with the comfortable style of the wide cargo room and spacious cabin.

• Minicab Truck
  The semi-cab style of Minicab creates the spacious cabin and wide cargo room. Its wide & low platform with full utility will give ease of use and pleasant work environment.
