Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announces that a new Lancer Cedia Wagon model will go on sale from November 18 at Galant and Car Plaza dealerships
throughout Japan. Developed to an "Active touring wagon" theme, the new Cedia Wagon retains the basic concepts of the Lancer Cedia 5-number
sedan launched in May this year.
The following principal features distinguish the new Cedia Wagon:
- Sharing the hallmark Diamond-cut Nose styling with its sedan cousin, it sports an exclusive radiator grille. The clean and no-fuss surface
composition of the body sides and tail, the truncated roof line, and the slim line rear combination light units contribute to a stylish design
that projects an appearance of functional beauty and quality.
- Retaining the room and comfort of the sedan's interior space that stem from its Compact Body and Big Cabin packaging, the new Cedia Wagon
features a rear overhang that is 55mm longer and an overall height that stands 10mm taller than the sedan. A wide variety of rear seat
arrangements bring the versatility required of a station wagon, as well as realizing a generously sized luggage compartment.
- The new Cedia Wagon series is driven by Mitsubishi's own 1.8-liter GDI+INVECS-III CVT powertrain. Some models are offered with the INVECS-III
Sport Mode 6-CVT transmission that incorporates a 6-speed manual override. The lineup also includes a full-time four-wheel drive model with
viscous coupling unit.
- Standard on all models, Mitsubishi's RISE(*1) advanced safety body and SRS(*2)
airbags for driver and front passenger bring high levels of safety. All models in the CEDIA series comply with 2010 Fuel Consumption Standards
and Japanese 2000 Emission Regulations.

I Principal product features
- Clear-cut stylish exterior with quality, sporty interior
- Exterior
- In the front view, the Cedia Wagon effectively uses MMC's hallmark Diamond-cut Nose design that improves maneuverability and imparts
a more dynamic appearance to the front fascia. Featuring a chrome frame with a black honeycomb design, the exclusive radiator grille
immediately distinguishes the Cedia Wagon from its sedan cousin.
- The side view is distinguished by simple, taut surfaces and the linear roofline.
- The rear is distinguished by the roofline, which cuts off sharply to run into a planar tailgate, and the slim line rear light
combination units. These elements combine with the roof-spoiler, roof-mounted antenna and massively proportioned rear bumper to create a
stylish tail design that presents a classy and functionally aesthetic appearance.
- Interior
- Featuring an integral Center Panel, the flat and low-line dash and instrument panel design adds a touch of refinement and enhances the
airy and spacious feel of the cockpit.
- The control panel uses oversized climate, in-car entertainment and other controls and switches to facilitate positive location and
operation by the driver. The use of high-luminescence gauges and dials on all models, except the TS, significantly improves
legibility.
- The TS uses a gray color-keyed, the Exceed a wood-grain finish and the Touring a classy and sporty wood-grain finish dash panel with
sports instrumentation.
- Appearing to wrap round into the dash, door trim in the TS is a dark-medium gray two-tone, in the Exceed is a classy medium
brown-beige and in the Touring is a sporty black monotone.
- Comprising a MOMO leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather trimmed shift lever knob and parking brake grip, a dash panel with a silver
hairline finish and sport seating upholstered in red fabric with sporty head restraints, a factory-fitted option package adds further
dash.
- Giving top trim models the ultimate in quality feel and appearance is the factory-fitted Touring Super package that includes leather
upholstery, power-adjust driver's seat and leather interior trim.
- Compact body & Big Cabin realize functional wagon space
- Packaging
- The new Cedia Wagon measures in with a rear overhang that is 55mm longer and stands 10mm taller than its sedan cousin. These increases
together with the long 2,600mm wheelbase realize packaging that provides a comfortably roomy rear seat space and generously luggage
carrying capacity.
- All models use a 6:4 split rear seat, enabling a number of seating arrangements to accommodate various sizes and types of
luggage.
- The use of a sliding security tonneau that can be fixed in two positions enables the rear seats to be reclined when the tonneau is in
use. For added convenience, the tonneau position may be adjusted by rear seat passengers from inside the vehicle.
- A large 35-liter tidy box in the floor, together with 2-liter tidy boxes in each of the quarters realize a luggage compartment that is
easy to keep neat and tidy.
- Pullout partition nets that correspond in size to the 6:4 split rear seats are available as a factory-fitted option. With an ELR
mechanism built into the reels, these nets help prevent items from the luggage compartment sliding or being thrown into the rear seat
compartment.
- Advanced powertrain: low consumption + sporty performance
- 1.8-liter GDI + INVECS-III(*3) CVT (or INVECS-III Sport Mode 6-CVT)
*3 Intelligent & Innovative Vehicle Electronic Control System
- The GDI + CVT powertrain exploits: (1)the high-precision torque control and the broad low-consumption operating zone inherent to the
Mitsubishi GDI engine and, (2) the CVT's continuous and jerk-free shifting over a wide range of gear ratios. Integrated management of
these two units enables the new Cedia Wagon to return class-topping mileage and deliver silky-smooth performance with slick
response.
- The INVECS-III CVT exploits the CVT's stepless and continuous shifting to realize Adaptive Shift Control and Optimal Shift Control
that constantly, instantly and smoothly select the optimum gear ratio for any given road condition or driving situation and that deliver
responsive acceleration tailored to the preferences and driving style of individual drivers.
- The Touring model uses the INVECS-III Sport Mode 6-CVT, which incorporates six fixed pulley diameters and a manual shift gate,
enabling the driver to operate the transmission as a manual and to select his gear of choice, bringing lag-free shifting and
well-modulated performance.
- Suspension
- The McPherson strut front suspension is optimized to extract the full handling and straight-line stability benefits of this
arrangement. It has also been optimized for the Wagon series to reduce roll.
- The rear suspension uses a trailing arm-type multi-link arrangement. This is tuned and optimized for station wagon use, and realizes
outstanding handling stability and ride comfort even with a full load of passengers and luggage.
- Located totally within the wheelhouses, the springs and shock absorbers do not intrude into the vehicle, thereby adding to interior
space and comfort.
- VCU(*4) full-time 4-wheel drive
*4 Viscous coupling unit
- 4-wheel drive models use Mitsubishi's proven VCU-type full-time all-wheel drive system that varies front-rear wheel torque split
according to front tire grip on slippery surfaces to maximize grip all round and handling stability.
- Brakes
- All models have 14-inch ventilated disc front brakes and 8-inch drum (9-inch on 4-wheel drive models) rear brakes
- All models come as standard with anti-lock braking that uses EBD(*5) technology to electronically
optimize braking force between front and rear wheels for different surface and vehicle load conditions.
*5 Electronic Brake Force Distribution
